This is a practical course which seeks to strengthen skills for designing and managing training initiatives; as well as strengthen skills and knowledge of the methods and tools of training. The course is based on the exploration of creativity and innovation in all aspects of design and delivery as a means to ensure  learning is exciting and effective.

This course covers the following areas:

  • Frameworks experiential and adult learning
  • How to assess training needs
  • Key steps of designing a training initiative
  • Approaches to training
  • Managing training
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Key principles
  • Dilemmas and issues of training in development
  • Participatory learning techniques
  • Understanding and working with groups
  • Facilitation skills
  • Use of cartoons, illustrations, video and drama

By the end of the course the participants will have designed a training event, facilitated and presented a session. Experienced a range of visual tools and had the opportunity to strengthen drawing and visualization skills.

The course method involves presentations, group tasks, discussion, role play,  video, power point , use of paper and visual materials, outdoor activities, and games.
